Thanksgiving Crafting

I haven't seen any posts from here lately... I hope you guys  are just busy crafting and not sick!

I started on some Thanksgiving crafting last night, including making a centerpiece and 10 tiny little Indian headbands for my place card holders. I'm not quite finished but they are deadly cute. Instructions are behind the cut.

These were VERY sickie friendly. I was able to sit the entire time and while they are intricate they are easy. Let me know if you make them!

Supplies cost a total of $5. And, as a  Crohnie I had plenty of empty TP rolls around... ;)

Newbie, with links

Hi, my name's Angeline and I've had Crohn's for sixteen years or so - I'm 26 now.

I love papercrafts, beading, drawing and photography amongst other things, and I take advantage of special times during the year to make decorations and gifts. For instance, my boyfriend and I recently made Hallowe'en lanterns, which you can see here (more pics will go up shortly).

What I thought you guys would be most interested in, however, is someone else's work: it's a comic that someone has created about his experiences with Crohn's, and you can find it here. It's the perfect example of someone using creativity as therapy, and it seems like it could help a lot of other people, too.

Intro yo!

Hello! My name is Mandy and I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease in 2003 when I was fourteen.  Needless to say, and I'm sure I speak for all, that it changed my life dramatically.  In some ways, perhaps bad, but definately in others it was good.  I have gained amazing strength, strength I could not have obtained with the terrible disease.  And that's pretty much the only good thing that came out of it XP

Anywho, I'm almost 19, I'm a girl, I love drawing and arts & crafts and pretty much just being creative.  So once I finally get around to actually making some new crafts, I plan to post them here. C'yas!

Hello! I recently started crafting 'mascots,' by way of "The Cute Book" by Aranzi Aronzo, a Japanese crafting company. They sell very cute things!

This was the first one I made. They're very small and really easy to make!

Photo inspiration

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Yesterday, my boyfriend and I headed down to Palo Alto, CA. This photo was taken on highway 280. The Bay Area is known for its rolling fog, and I am pretty pleased with how this photo captured it. I think it turned out like a painting. =) It was taken with my cell phone too. Not bad.
I've been feeling well, in the midst of a "maybe" flare. I hope it stays that way.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi Crafties!!

I'm Annie. I'm 26, I live in Atlanta with my boyfriend (and our dog and cat) and I looooove crafts!

I mostly make mosaics with hand cut glass tiles. I also am into pottery, although I haven't been as active in it as I'd like lately. I love all kinds of little crafts and really enjoy fixing up the house as well.

There are some pics of my recent mosaics behind the cut. Enjoy!!

(no subject)

Hi everyone! I'm Caity. I'm 20 and I was diagnosed w/ Crohn's Colitis in 2002 when I was just about to turn 15. I'm at Sweet Briar College in Amherst, VA but when I'm home in Midlothian, VA, I work in a Craft store, in the frame shop (though I won't say what craft store, I will say that it is NOT Michael's). I took up cross stitching a little while before I got sick, but did a lot while I was really sick. I love photography and I used to sketch all the time but kinda stopped when I was sick. I do all things crafty -- scrapbooking, and any kind of 3-D thingamajig I can think up.

So now that the intro's done... back to schoolwork... *sigh*

Welcome to Crafty Crohnies!

Welcome everyone!
As you can see, this community is just starting out. If you have anything that you would like to add to the profile, please let me know! Feel free to introduce yourself with whatever you'd like to include. Since this is more of a crafting community, I'm hoping for the focus to be more of a knitting circle for lack of a better term, but that doesn't mean you can't talk about what is going on medically here. Just remember that there are other IBD and IBS communities that could be of more help.

And now for my intro :)

My name is Laura, 19 years old. I was diagnosed with Crohn's back in June 07. I'm hoping to become a stage manager, which is a very stressful occupation, and as we all know stress and IBD is no fun at all. To help combat that early, I took knitting up again. So far, I've finished a Doctor Who scarf, a Jayne hat, my first ever cardigan sweater, and my first ever pair of socks. I'm currently working on a bamboo shrug and a Homespun Cape. I'm a college student, theatre major. And there is finally a LYS in the town that I now call home.

I created this community to meet more IBD/IBS crafters and to have our own circle where we understand what is happening. So, please join up and give your ideas to help this community grow.
